Darja Rihla Evidence Capture Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 1, 2026

Darja Rihla Evidence Capture is a browser extension designed to help users capture structured research evidence from the webpage they are currently viewing.

The extension is designed around local processing and data minimisation.

Data processed by the extension

When you choose to create an evidence capture, the extension may process:

the URL of the current webpage
the webpage hostname
the webpage title
the canonical URL, when available
the webpage meta description, when available
text that you explicitly select on the webpage
a research note that you explicitly enter
the date and time of the capture

For Microsoft Edge Add-ons disclosure purposes, this functionality falls under:

Web history
Website content
How your data is used

The information is used only to create the evidence record requested by you.

Evidence records can be:

stored in local browser storage
copied to the clipboard as Markdown
downloaded as Markdown
downloaded as JSON

The extension does not use captured information for advertising, profiling, analytics or unrelated purposes.

Local browser storage

Captured evidence is stored using the browser’s local extension storage.

Darja Rihla does not operate a server or cloud database for Evidence Capture.

Captured records remain within your browser profile unless you export them yourself.

You can remove individual records or delete all stored records from the extension.

Removing the extension may also remove its locally stored extension data.

Data transmission

Darja Rihla Evidence Capture does not upload captured evidence to Darja Rihla or any third-party server.

The extension does not use:

analytics
telemetry
advertising trackers
AI processing services
cloud storage
external APIs for captured evidence
remote executable code

Darja Rihla does not receive the webpages, selected text, research notes or evidence records you capture with the extension.

Browser access

The extension uses temporary access to the active webpage after user interaction.

It does not have permanent access to all websites and does not monitor browsing activity in the background.

The extension does not access browser history through the browser history API.

The recorded webpage URL, title and capture timestamp are stored only when the user explicitly creates an evidence capture.

Clipboard access

The extension can write generated Markdown to the clipboard when you explicitly choose Copy Markdown.

The extension does not read the contents of your clipboard.

Downloads

When you choose Download Markdown or Download JSON, the extension uses the browser download functionality to save the generated evidence file to your device.

Downloads are initiated by the user.

Information the extension does not intentionally access

Evidence Capture does not intentionally access or collect:

passwords
authentication credentials
cookies
payment card details
browser history
data from unrelated browser tabs
website localStorage or sessionStorage
keystrokes
mouse movements
browsing behaviour in the background

Selected webpage content may naturally contain personal or sensitive information depending on what the user chooses to capture. That information remains under the user’s control and is not transmitted to Darja Rihla.

Data sharing and sale

Darja Rihla does not sell Evidence Capture data.

Darja Rihla does not transfer captured evidence to third parties.

Data processed by the extension is not used for creditworthiness, lending, advertising or unrelated purposes.

Security and integrity

Evidence records include a SHA-256 integrity hash.

The hash can help detect whether the stored record differs from the data used to generate that hash.

The hash does not prove:

that a webpage existed at a particular time
that the webpage contained the captured information at that time
the authenticity of the website or user
legal or forensic validity
independent timestamp verification or notarisation
Data retention

Evidence records remain in local browser storage until:

you delete an individual record
you delete all records
browser or extension storage is removed
the extension is uninstalled and its data is removed by the browser

The extension currently retains a maximum of 500 evidence records in local browser storage.

Changes to this privacy policy

This privacy policy may be updated if the functionality or data practices of Darja Rihla Evidence Capture change.

Material changes to the extension’s data handling will be reflected in this privacy policy and, where required, in the Microsoft Edge Add-ons privacy disclosures.
